Four GDR Dachas are located on a narrow plot near Berlin. The ensemble will be used as a single home with functions distributed between the individual houses.
Local planning regulations dictate that a complete rebuilding is out of the question as this will lead to the loss of the grandfathering. By means of a layer of polyurethane foam inside and out the asbestos contaminated bungalows will receive a thermal upgrade and the existing structure will be contained within it.
The foam is left exposed and lacquered.
